James Ford

James Ford (born James Ellis Ford ) is an English musician , composer and producer.

Career

James Ford founded the indie rock band Simian with Simon Lord, Alex MacNaghten and James Shaw , whose debut album Chemistry Is What We Are was released in 2001. After a second album, the band broke up in 2005, after which Ford continued the dance-floor-oriented Simian Mobile Disco , which was originally only intended as a DJ team for Simian concerts, together with Shaw. In 2007 their debut Attack Decay Sustain Release was released .

Productions and collaborations

He produced the album Myths of the Near Future with Klaxons , which won the Mercury Prize . He also produced the second, fourth, fifth and sixth Arctic Monkeys albums . He played drums on the side project of their singer Alex Turner , The Last Shadow Puppets , and produced their debut album The Age of the Understatement , which was also nominated for the Mercury Prize. In 2009 he produced the debut album by Florence and the Machine , the singer of which claimed she had "kidnapped" Ford to produce the album. Ford also participated in the Homelife and Toolshed projects . In 2016 he produced their fourteenth studio album Spirit with Depeche Mode , which was released in spring 2017.
