Stemmer is a district belonging to Minden in the Minden-Lübbecke district , North Rhine-Westphalia, and is located north of the city center in the direction of Petershagen . In the east it borders on the districts of Kutenhausen and Todtenhausen , in the south on the district of Minderheide . In the west, Stemmer borders on the Holzhausen II district of the Hille community and in the north on the Friedewalde and Südfelde districts of the city of Petershagen.

Stemmer was first mentioned in a document in 1239 and celebrated its 750th anniversary in September 1989. Until the municipal reorganization on January 1, 1973, Stemmer was an independent municipality and belonged to the Petershagen office in the Minden district . The place is characterized by large agricultural areas. The center of the district can be described as the area around the school and the cemetery. The old schnapps distillery is a landmark, in whose building there is now a shop for riding, fishing and hunting supplies.

Since 1998, the Stemmer Potato Market has been held every two years on the last Sunday in September. On the Stemmer Landstrasse and the adjacent streets in the village center, a market that is also well-known nationwide has established itself. Since 2003 the Fritz-Homann-Bad, an open-air swimming pool that was built in 1964, has been run by the Fritz-Homann-Bad eV association with the support of many volunteers, sponsors and donors. The first women's team of HSV Minden-Nord play their third division home games in the Minden-Nord sports hall in Stemmer.
