Miriam Vogt (born March 20, 1967 in Starnberg ) is a former German ski racer .

biography

At the beginning of her career, the daughter of Hans and Katharina Vogt went skiing in winter, while rowing in summer, in which her brother Markus Vogt made precious metals at the 1991 World Cup. After the intervention of her then trainer Willi Lesch, however, she finally concentrated on skiing. At the Junior World Championships 1985 in the ČSSR , Vogt took 8th place in slalom. She celebrated her debut in the World Cup on January 10, 1986 as part of the downhill race in Bad Gastein . There she finished eleventh with the high starting number 44. The initial good results were followed by a low in 1989, which temporarily led to Vogt being demoted from the national team to the DSV's promotional squad.

The 1.80 meter tall downhill specialist, who started for the WSV Unterammergau , changed ski equipment several times in her career. After initially traveling to Rossignol from Starnberg , she switched to Völkl and later in the summer of 1992 to Blizzard . She won a world cup race in her career (December 12, 1992 in Vail ) and was combined world champion at the 1993 Alpine World Ski Championships in Morioka . In 1998 she ended her career, but still took an active part in the Swiss championships in 2000 and in the Austrian championships in 2001.

After her skiing career, Vogt, who had studied business administration during her sporting career, became the managing director of a company that offers seminars in the field of mental and behavioral training. Since July 4th, 2005 she has also been President of the Bavarian Ski Association. At the end of 2013 she was elected Vice President of the DSV. Vogt is the initiator of the annual winter benefit event "Snow crystal - be strong when it counts", which has existed since 2003.

In 2017 she received the Bavarian Order of Merit .
