The Mittelgrund nature reserve is located in the municipality of Remptendorf in the Saale-Orla district in Thuringia . It extends northeast of Ruppersdorf , a district of Remptendorf. The state road L 2377 runs along the western edge of the area and the L 1099 runs to the southwest.
