The Moby Niki is a ferry of the Italian Moby Lines , which entered service in 1974 under the name Europafärjan III . It has been in use between Piombino and Portoferraio since October 2016 .

history

The Europafärjan III was laid down on October 24, 1973 under the construction number 683 at Nobiskrug in Rendsburg and was launched on May 25, 1974. After the takeover by the shipping company Lion Ferry on September 6, 1974, the ship was put into service on September 8 on the route from Varberg to Grenaa .

On September 19, the Europafärjan III was damaged by one of its propellers and had to be put in a dry dock for repairs. On December 10th of the same year she ran aground off Grenaa and was stuck there for a day. In August 1982 the ship moved to Varberg – Grenå Linjen, a subsidiary of Stena Line .

In April 1983, the Europafärjan III became the property of Corsica Ferries , who renamed it Corsica Serena II . In May 1983 the ship started the ferry service between La Spezia and Bastia . In October 1999 it was renamed Corsica Serena Seconda .

In 2001 the Corsica Serena Seconda received new stabilizers during a renovation. After nine more years in service to Corsica Ferries, the ship was in September 2010 in Vado Ligure issued and offered for sale. In May 2011 it went to Almada Shipping Ltd. under the name European Voyager . and was in service from July 2011 between Brindisi and Vlora . In June 2012 it was also used on the route from Bari to Durrës .

In October 2016, the European Voyager went to the Italian Moby Lines and was renamed Moby Niki after a renovation . It has been used on the route from Piombino to Portoferraio ever since.
