Mohamed Moustafa Mero

Mohamed Moustafa Mero ( Arabic محمد مصطفى ميرو, DMG Muḥammad Muṣṭafā Mīrū ; * 1941 in at-Tall , Rif Dimaschq , Syrian Republic ) was Prime Minister of the Republic of Syria , who held his office from March 13, 2000 to September 10, 2003.

The Muslim graduated from the University of Damascus with a degree in Arabic literature and humanitarian sciences . He joined the Ba'ath Party and its National Progress Front was nominated and appointed Prime Minister shortly after the death of longtime President Hafiz al-Assad to fight corruption and introduce important economic reforms. He remained Prime Minister under the presidency of Bashar al-Assad , but soon resigned. Relations with neighboring and long-standing rival Turkey have also improved under his government .
