Moita is a place and a municipality in the central region of Portugal .
history
The place was probably created in the 10th century, in the course of the repopulation as a result of the Reconquista . The place was first mentioned in 1064, when its church São Cucufate was mentioned.
Moita received its first city rights from King D. Sancho I in 1210 and thus became the seat of a district. In 1514, King D. Manuel renewed the town charter, but Carvalhais is named as the seat of the district in the document.
Until the administrative reforms after the Liberal Revolution in 1822 , Moita was a municipality in Ferreiros County. Then the district and the municipality of Ferreiros were dissolved and Moita was attached, which has since been a municipality in the district of Anadia.
