The Graubünden noble family Mont (de Mont, Demont, Mondt, Monntt, Monnt, Month, Monndt, Mundt, Munth, Mund, Munnt, Munt, Mundtt) originally came from Vella (Villa) in the Val Lumnezia in the Surselva .

The family is first mentioned in a document around 1300 in Sumvitg . Various representatives of the family served as judges, as officials in the Valtellina and as servants of the Bishop of Chur , among other things as a court meal . They also hired themselves as mercenaries in the French service. The Mont were married to other ruling families in Graubünden such as Sax-Misox , Capol , Jochberg , Latour and Florin. The Mont were owned by the Löwenberg lordship in Schluein .

The Löwenberger Mont have redesigned their coat of arms so that quartered in quarters 1 and 4 it shows a turned half golden unicorn on a blue background and in quarters 2 and 3 a black lion with a double tail turned upright on a golden background.
