Coordinates: 61 ° 0 ' N , 14 ° 32' O Mora is a municipality ( Swedish commun ) in the Swedish province of Dalarnas län and the historical province of Dalarna northwest of Lake Siljan . The main town of the municipality is Mora .
geography
The municipality of Mora extends inland from Dalarna from Lake Siljan about 60 kilometers (as the crow flies) to the west. The municipality also includes the northern half of the lake and the 7.5 km long and 4 km wide island of Sollerön with numerous archaeological finds from the Stone Age and over 100 burial sites from the Viking Age .
The municipality of Mora, which lies in the Skanden Foreland , has a rather flat, wooded landscape. The Gesundaberg on the west bank of the Siljan is an exception.
history
The open-air museum Skansen has been showing the Moragården farm complex since 1891/1930 , for which buildings from Östnor, Venjan and smaller towns in the municipality were moved to Stockholm.

economy
The municipality of Mora is an industrial and tourist municipality. Most of the industrial companies are located in the central town of Mora. The Siljan area is important for tourism; Mora himself with his Zorn collections and in winter the Wasalauf , a cross-country skiing competition over a distance of 90 kilometers.
