Morgan Samuelsson (born April 6, 1968 in Boden ) is a former Swedish ice hockey player and current coach . His younger brother Magnus is a retired soccer player .

Career

Morgan Samuelsson played for the European juniors in 1986 and won the silver medal. In the same year he was recruited in the sixth round (123 in total) by the Nordiques de Québec in the 1986 NHL Entry Draft .

He became known through the Swiss championship title in 2001 with the ZSC Lions when he scored the decisive goal in extra time in the last game.

In the 2004/05 season he began his career behind the gang at HC Sierre , which he left in 2006. He then returned to HC Bozen , with whom he won the Italian Cup in 2007, but was dismissed the following season. He started the 2007/08 season on the Djurgården junior bench before replacing Kari Eloranta at the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers , where he qualified for the playoffs.

He then became the coach of Åkers IF , a club from the Swedish fourth division. In the 2008/09 season he returned to Switzerland and replaced Bruno Aegerter until the end of the season. He then replaced coach Robert Mongrain in Graben .
