Mortrée is a village and a former commune with 1,036 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Orne in the region of Normandy . It belonged to the Arrondissement of Alençon and the canton of Sées (until 2015: canton of Mortrée ).
With effect from January 1, 2019, the previous communes of Mortrée and Saint-Hilaire-la-Gérard were merged to form Commune nouvelle Mortrée of the same name and have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new commune . The administrative headquarters are in Mortrée .
geography
Mortrée is located about 13 kilometers south-southeast of Argentan on the Thouane River . Mortrée is surrounded by the neighboring towns of Médavy in the north, Le Château-d'Almenêches in the north-east, Macé in the east, Belfonds in the east and south-east, Montmerrei in the west and south-west and Marcei in the west and north-west.
The A88 motorway runs in the north of the area .
