Mount Pleasant is the county capital and seat of the county seat of Titus County in the US state of Texas in the United States .

The city is located at the intersection of Interstate 30 with US Highway 271 and Highway 49, in northeast Texas, 100 southwest of Texarkana , is about 70 km to the north from Oklahoma , about 120 km to the east from Arkansas and has a total area of 33.0 km 2 , of which 0.5 km 2 is water.

According to the census in 2000 , 13,935 people lived here in 4,558 households and 3,208 families. The population density was 429.4 people per km 2 . The racial the population was composed of 56.70% White, 16.00% African American, 0.55% Native American, 0.84% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, and 23.57% other ethnic groups. About 2.33% were mixed race and 40.65% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

The average household size was 2.93 and the average family size was 3.55.
