Mszana is a village in the powiat Wodzisławski in the Silesian Voivodeship , Poland . The village is also the seat of the rural community of the same name .
geography
Mszana is located on the southeastern part of the Rybnik Plateau, 48 km southwest of Katowice and 5 km southeast of the district town of Wodzisław Śląski . The small river Mszanka flows into the Szotkówka in the village .
history
The first written mention comes from the year 1305. 1447 a church in the village is mentioned for the first time. In 1855 the village had 757 inhabitants.
From 1975 to 1998 the village belonged to the Katowice Voivodeship .
politics
Community leader
The head of the municipal administration is the municipality leader . Currently this is Mirosław Szymanek, who is running for the electoral committee “We are building the future of the community”. The regular election in October 2018 led to the following result.
- Mirosław Szymanek (Election Committee “We are building the future of the community”) 79.9% of the vote
- Piotr Kucera ( Prawo i Sprawiedliwość ) 20.1% of the vote
So Szymanek was re-elected as community leader in the first ballot.
Municipal council
The municipal council consists of 15 members and is directly elected by the population in single-person constituencies. The 2018 municipal council election led to the following result:
- Election committee “We are building the future of the community” 64.9% of the votes, 14 seats
- Prawo i Sprawiedliwość (PiS) 34.2% of the votes, 1 seat
- Silesian Regional Party 0.9% of the vote, no seat
coat of arms
The current coat of arms has been used since 2000. It is made up of three parts. Each of these parts stands for a Sołectwo ( Schulzenamt ) for Mszana stands the bell, for Połomia stands for the heart and for Gogołowa stands the tree.

The municipality has an area of 31.32 km². 74% of the municipal area is used for agriculture, 7% is covered with forest.

The Sołectwo ( Schulzenämter ) Gogołowa, Mszana and Połomia belong to the municipality .
Economy and Transport
Droga wojewódzka 930 ( DW930 ) and DW933 run through the municipality . The Autostrada A1 has been built by the municipality since 2008 (completion April 2012).
