life and career

L'Maadi Abd Aziz made his first attempts at mountain biking in 2009 behind his parents' house in Brunei. He soon took part in various competitions and, from 2012, took part in races for the newly founded Bruneian cycling team CCN Cycling Team . For example, l'Maadi Abd Aziz, who attended the Maktab Duli PMAMB , a pre-university school facility in his home country , already drove the U-19 time trial at the 2010 Asian Cycling Championships , where he finished 16th. From the end of April to the beginning of May 2012, the Bruneier took part in the first edition of the Tour of Borneo , where he reached 49th place overall. At the end of August of the same year he started the Tour of East Java , where he retired from the current race on the first day of the first stage between Probolinggo and Malang and could not finish it. The same fate befell him at the first edition of the Banyuwangi Tour de Ijen , when he failed early on the low mountain range between Pesanggaran and Banyuwangi . Just a little more than a week later, he achieved a better result at what was also the first edition of the Tour of Vietnam ; after completing five stages it was enough for a 79th place in the overall ranking.

In 2013, l'Maadi Abd Aziz took part in the Melaka Governor's Cup in Malaysia , where he came in 64th place and his teammate Lex Nederlof won the race over almost 200 kilometers. This year he again took part in the Tour of East Java, where he only made it to the second stage and then also failed. Furthermore, he was a participant in the Southeast Asian Games 2013 , where he competed in various road races (in addition to individual as well as in a team) and took 39th place over the 163 km route. The following year he trained for three months at the World Cycling Center , also known as the WCC , in Aigle VD in Switzerland , thus creating a basis for his later participation in the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow . There he was the only participant from his home country and was also the flag bearer of Brunei at this major tournament. Before that, he joined the Elite-2 cycling team in 2013 and completed the French one-day race Annemasse – Bellegarde et retour at the end of March 2014 , and the U-23 one-day race at the 2014 Asian Cycling Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan . While he only finished 96th in France, he was tenth in the U-23 race at the Asian Cycling Championships.

At the Games in Scotland, the Bruneier took part in three different competitions: the road race, the 40 km points race and the 20 km scratch. While he could not finish the road race and the 20 km scratch race or did not get through the qualification phase, he reached 13th place in the qualification for the 40 km points race. So far, only taking part in races of the UCI Continental Circuits is one of his main goals for a team to start the UCI WorldTour .
