Bacalar is a municipality in the south of the Mexican state of Quintana Roo . The seat of the municipality is Bacalar . The municipality was formed in 2011, after the last census in 2010, when 33,408 inhabitants were counted in the current area of the municipality. The community area is 7,161.5 km² .
