The municipality of Cotoca is a district in the Santa Cruz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The municipality of Cotoca is one of five municipalities in the Andrés Ibáñez province . It is surrounded in the north, west and south by the municipality of Santa Cruz and borders on the province of Chiquitos in the east . The central place is Cotoca in the western part of the district with 19,482 inhabitants. ( 2012 census )

The municipality of Cotoca is located east of the Cordillera Oriental in the Bolivian lowlands on the west bank of the Río Grande (Guapay) . The region's climate is tropical and humid almost all year round, with a short dry season from July to August with monthly values ​​of only 30 to 40 mm and maximum values ​​of 130 to 160 mm from December to February.
