The Municipio Lagunillas is a district in the Santa Cruz Department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The municipality of Lagunillas is one of seven municipalities in the Cordillera province and includes its western area. It borders on the Chuquisaca Department to the west , the Municipio Municipio Camiri to the southeast , and the Municipio Gutiérrez to the east and north .

The municipality stretches between about 19 ° 19 'and 20 ° 15' south latitude and 63 ° 28 'and 63 ° 45' west longitude, its extent from west to east is up to 30 kilometers, from north to south up to 110 kilometers .

The municipality comprises 40 municipalities ( localidades ), the central place of the municipality is the town of Lagunillas with 1,002 inhabitants ( 2012 census ) on the western edge of the district.

The Municipio Lagunillas is located on the western edge of the Bolivian lowlands between the foothills of the southeastern Cordillera Central . The climate is subtropical and semi-humid, the temperatures fluctuate only to a limited extent during the day and the year.
