Pinal de Amoles is a municipality in the Mexican state of Querétaro . The municipality covers an area of 714 km². In 2010, Pinal de Amoles had a population of 27,093. The administrative seat and most populous place of the municipality is the Pinal de Amoles of the same name .
Part of the Sierra Gorda Biosphere Reserve is located in the municipality .

The municipality of Pinal de Amoles is located in the north-central part of the state of Querétaro at an altitude between 600 m and 3100 m . 98% of it belongs to the physiographic province of the Sierra Madre Oriental and 2% to the Mesa del Centro . The municipality lies entirely in the catchment area of the Río Pánuco and thus drains into the Gulf of Mexico . The predominant rock types are the sedimentary rocks limestone (71%) and limestone lutite (27%). Soil type of 51% of the municipality is the Leptosol , followed by 34% Luvisol and 13% Regosol . About 55% of the community area is forested, 24% is covered by scrub, 12% is used for arable farming, 9% as pasture land.
The municipality of Pinal de Amoles borders the municipalities Jalpan de Serra , Arroyo Seco , Peñamiller , Cadereyta de Montes and San Joaquín, as well as the state of Guanajuato .

The 2010 census counted 27,093 people in 6,044 residential units in the municipality. Of these, 69 people were registered as speakers of an indigenous language . A little over 17% of the population was illiterate. 6,201 inhabitants were registered as economically active, of which a good 75% were men and 14% were unemployed. Almost 35 percent of the population lived in extreme poverty.
