Arroyo Seco is a municipality in the Mexican state of Querétaro . The municipality covers an area of 734 km². In 2010, Pinal de Amoles had a population of 12,910 people. The administrative seat of the municipality is the Arroyo Seco of the same name , while Purísima de Arista is the most populous place .
Part of the Sierra Gorda Biosphere Reserve is located in the municipality .
geography
The municipality Arroyo Seco is located in the north of the state of Querétaro at an altitude between 400 m and 2600 m . It belongs entirely to the physiographic province of the Sierra Madre Oriental and lies entirely in the catchment area of the Río Pánuco and thus drains into the Gulf of Mexico . The predominant rock types are the sedimentary rocks limestone (73%) and limestone lutite (13%) with 8.5% basalt . Soil type of 41% of the municipality is the Leptosol , followed by 38% Luvisol , 10% Cambisol and 6% Vertisol . About 81% of the community area is forested, 12% are used for agriculture, 6% as pasture land.
The municipality Arroyo Seco borders on the municipalities Jalpan de Serra and Pinal de Amoles as well as the states of Guanajuato and San Luis Potosí .

In the 2010 census, 12,910 people in 3,284 residential units were counted in the municipality. Of these, 51 people were registered as speakers of an indigenous language . A good 14.5% of the population were illiterate. 3,451 inhabitants were registered as economically active, of which 76% were men or just under 14% were unemployed. 19 percent of the population lived in extreme poverty.
