The municipality of Puerto Siles is a district in the Beni department in the lowlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
The municipality of Puerto Siles is one of three municipalities in the province of Mamoré and is located in the northwestern part of the province. It borders the province of Yacuma to the west, the municipality of San Joaquín to the south and east , and the province of Vaca Díez to the north .
The second largest town and administrative center of the province is Puerto Siles with 225 inhabitants ( 2012 census ) in the southern tip of the municipality.

The municipality of Puerto Siles is located in the Moxos plain , with over 100,000 km² one of the largest wetlands on earth. The predominant form of vegetation in the Puerto Siles region is that of the tropical savannah .
The temperature fluctuations are low, both during the day and during the year. The annual average temperature is over 26 ° C, the monthly average temperatures are between 24 and 29 ° C (see climate diagram San Joaquín). The annual precipitation of around 1500 mm is twice as high as that in Central Europe. Only the months of June to August are characterized by a dry season , in which the low rainfall evaporates quickly.
