Mykola Martschenko

Mykola Dmytrowytsch Martschenko ( Ukrainian Микола Дмитрович Марченко ; born September 20, 1943 in Charkowe , Chernihiv Oblast , Ukrainian SSR ; † May 12, 2018 ) was a Ukrainian sculptor and representative of realism of the 20th and 21st centuries. He worked in the field of monumental statues , sculptures and reliefs . The portrait genre had a special place in Martschenko's art.

Life

Martschenko studied from 1960 to 1968 at the Dnipropetrovsk State Art School, specializing in “sculpture” and from 1966 to 1970 did his military service in Tbilisi . From 1970 to 1976 he received a high degree of art education in sculpture at the State Art School in Kiev (now the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture ). In 1978 he became a member of the National Society of Artists of Ukraine.

In 1979 he began teaching at the Kiev Technical University (today the Kiev National University of Construction and Architecture ). For some time he worked at the Borys-Hrinchenko University in Kiev . From 2009 he was a lecturer at the Institute for Drawing and Painting at the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture. Marchenko lived and worked in Kiev.

Marchenko was part of the creativity team that worked on the implementation of the Ukraine Independence Monument project in the city of Kiev in 2000 . He created numerous monuments and plaques in Kiev and other cities in Ukraine, u. a. the relief portrait of PP Verskyj (1983 city of Kiev) or the bas-relief To graduates of special schools of Kiev - participants of the Second World War (1979 city of Kiev).

Works by Mykola Martschenko are in private collections in Ukraine, France and other countries as well as in museums such as B. in the National Museum of Literature of Ukraine , the Pedagogical Museum in the House of Teachers or the State Museum and Memorial of the Bukrin Bridgehead in Balyko-Shchuchynka .
