The NET 2012 ( short for N iederflur E lektro t rubbed dare 2012) is a light rail - Multiple Unit Series Vossloh Citylink , which at Vossloh for Karlsruhe Transport has been established. The railcar was developed for use by the Karlsruhe Stadtbahn and has been running there since 18. October 2014.

history

The Karlsruhe transport company ordered 25 multiple units for the Karlsruhe Stadtbahn in October 2011 for a total of 75 million euros for delivery from October 2013. An option for a further 50 vehicles was agreed. The vehicles were manufactured and assembled by Vossloh Rail Vehicles in Valencia . The original delivery date could not be met and was therefore postponed to the end of May 2014. In March 2014, the first driving and braking tests were carried out on the company's own test track in Valencia. Since the 19th June 2015 the vehicles also have the approval according to EBO, so that after driver training they can also be used as planned on the direct current tram lines S1 / S11 (Hardtbahn and Albtalbahn) of the Albtal Verkehrs Gesellschaft (AVG).

Another 25 vehicles of this type were ordered in April 2015, 14 of them for AVG. Delivery of this first option is planned for April 2016. With the second option requested at the end of March 2016, a further 25 multiple units are to be delivered to AVG from autumn 2016. Should another transport company take over traffic on the Albtalbahn after the transport contract signed at the beginning of March 2016 expires, the district of Karlsruhe is planning to take over the AVG vehicles.

In 2017, work began on revising the interior of the vehicles. Here, 30 yellow straps, additional handles on the seats and horizontal grab bars in the middle of the car are installed, in areas with a wide aisle the side seat spacing is increased, a folding armrest is attached between priority seats and the lighting level is reduced. The conversion costs around 6 000 euros per multiple unit. These adjustments are already being made by the manufacturer for the approximately 40 multiple units that have not yet been delivered.

The delivery of the railcar 400 was completed in March 2019.

construction

The NET 2012 are 37.2 meters long, 2.65 meters wide and 3.655 meters high, eight-axle articulated multiple units of the type Citylink made by Vossloh. The vehicle is a way vehicle designed and has three vehicle segments. The three car parts of the railcar are fully accessible and rest on conventional bogies with rubber and metal suspension and an additional air suspension. The middle car body runs on two running bogies, the two end parts are supported on the middle part and one motor bogie each . The four three-phase drive motors each have an output of 125 kilowatts. The openings of the five doors are 1.3 m wide and 2.1 m high. With an entry height of 34 cm above the top of the rails and with a floor that is only a few centimeters higher than the outer motor bogies, the vehicles have a low-floor proportion of 80 %. The railcars are equipped with Scharfenberg couplings with contact attachments and can therefore be coupled to form multiple units . As a destination indicator one is LED - matrix display used.

The multiple units have a longitudinal stiffness of 800 kN. You can drive on changes in inclination with a gradient curve from 500 m.

inner space

There are a total of 82 full-size seats in the 2 + 2 compartment form and an additional 25 folding seats in the three multi-purpose areas. In addition, if the folding seats are not used, there is standing room for 151. The interior is fully air-conditioned . In the middle of each vehicle segment, similar to the ET 2010, there are two rear-facing and two front-facing monitors. These serve to provide passenger information and show the next stop, the course of the route or connections. The entire vehicle interior is monitored with cameras .

Color scheme and design

The external design of the NET 2012 follows the current color concept of the Karlsruhe transport company. The vehicles are three-colored - with a car body in the color dahlia yellow , a signal red apron and a black window band. After the ET 2010, the NET 2012 will be the second generation of vehicles in this new color concept presented in 2010. It was designed in compliance with the corporate design of the Karlsruher Verkehrsverbund .

On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the AVG in 2017, the 355 car was painted green and yellow, as the AVG first introduced in 1975 on the AVG 22-25 wagons and used until the 1980s.

commitment

Vehicle 338 in May 2015 at Oppenheim station as a transfer trip on the way from Koblenz-Lützel station to Karlsruhe: The new vehicles have been in the registration process since May 2014.

After delivery and approval, the new vehicles were used on all lines in the inner city area. Operations on line 2 were avoided because of the Lassallestrasse turning triangle, but they did occur occasionally. After the reconstruction of the branch to Rintheim, the high-floor trams of the type GT8-D and GT8-60C , which had been in use in Karlsruhe for over 50 years, and the 40-year-old cars of the type GT8-70C were taken out of service, even if the NET 2012 only rarely drive on line 5. In the long term, these vehicles are intended to replace the non- barrier-free high-floor vehicles of the types GT6-80C and GT8-80C on the S1, S11 and S2 tram lines of the Karlsruhe Stadtbahn . Since June 2018, the cars in the VBK network have mainly only been running on tram lines 2, 3 and 4. In the future, use on lines 1 and S2 should be avoided in favor of the larger capacity of the older GT8-70D / N.

Since 19. In July 2017, the multiple units will also operate on lines S1 and S11 - initially mainly on weekends.

Incidents

On the 1st In September 2016, the technical supervisory authority for trams demanded an intensive technical inspection from the Karlsruhe transport company, which meant that the vehicles had to be taken out of service. On 9 On September 1st, a Friday, the TAB allowed the vehicle to be started again, and the vehicles were put back into operation on the following Monday, the first day of school after the summer holidays.

Since the beginning of November 2016, there have been an increasing number of inexplicable emergency brakes on some, but not all, of the vehicles. In January 2017, [out of date] after adjustments to the train control system to prevent false triggering, regular operations are to be resumed.

On 12. January 2017, an older passenger was slightly injured in an emergency brake. It happened because the vehicle thought a door was open due to a loose connection.
