Newag Spółka Akcyjna is a Polish company based in Nowy Sącz that specializes in the manufacture and maintenance of rail vehicles. The companies "Newag Nowy Sącz" and "Newag Gliwice" are united in today's Newag Group. Newag Nowy Sącz was founded there in 1876 as the Imperial - Royal Railway Workshop and was later called ZNTK Nowy Sącz . Newag Gliwice was founded in 1899 as the Royal Railway Locomotive Workshop , later renamed ZNLE Gliwice and taken over by Newag Nowy Sącz in 2008. The product range includes the manufacture, modernization and repair of railway vehicles as well as the manufacture and maintenance of machinery.

Locomotives

Newag 311

Based on locomotives of the PKP series ST44 , Newag has been building Newag 311 diesel locomotives since 2007. Based on the old locomotive frame, the locomotives were given new engines, a new body and new driver's cabs. You are working in Poland.

Newag 6Dg

Old vehicles of the PKP series SM42 serve as the basis for the Newag 6Dg locomotives, which have been manufactured since 2007. They received a new low-emission engine as well as a new body and driver's cab. Most of the 138 built locomotives are in use at PKP Cargo .

Newag 15D / 16D

Only the bogies of the donor locomotives of the PKP series SM48 are used in the Newag 15D ( normal gauge ) / Newag 16D ( broad gauge ) vehicles. The six locomotives manufactured since 2010 have been given a completely new structure with a new driver's cab, engine and gearbox and are in use in Poland.

Newag Dragon

The Newag E6ACT "Dragon" type electric locomotives are completely in-house developments. The six-axle locomotive was presented for the first time at the TRAKO 2009 trade fair, and the first machine was manufactured at the end of 2011. The Polish railway companies STK and Lotos have each ordered four and five copies. These locomotives were delivered by May 2014. Newag also offers a diesel and a three-system version of the Dragon; Locomotives of these variants have not yet been produced.

Newag Griffin

Locomotives in the Newag Griffin product group are available in six different variants. The output is 5.6 MW; the top speed varies between 160 km / h and 200 km / h depending on the variant. In 2012 the first prototype with the type designation E4MSU was presented at the InnoTrans in Berlin and has since been subjected to multiple tests. There are no orders yet.

The two- and three-part diesel railcars of the Newag 220M / 221M series were manufactured from 2010 to 2014 . 14 vehicles are used in regional transport in Poland.

Newag 222M

With the 222M there is also a current standard, u. a. for collision safety (EN 15227), compliant diesel railcars in the program. The only example built so far for the Koleje Mazowieckie is 43 m long, 2.84 m wide, is powered by two 390 kW diesel engines and reaches 130 km / h. The entry height is 600 mm.

For Ferrovia Circumetnea , four twin railcars with a gauge of 950 mm were delivered in 2016. Their maximum speed is 100 km / h and they are designed for 100 people.

Electric multiple units

Newag 14WE

The Newag 14WE series was built in 2005 based on the PKP series EN57 railcars . The railcars received modern engines and a completely new structure and interior. They are used by Szybka Kolej Miejska in Warsaw as a city express train. A railcar was delivered as EN61 to the Polish railway PKP .

Newag 19WE

In 2008 the Newag 19WE series was presented, 5 of which were delivered to Szybka Kolej Miejska . The four-part trains are used as a rapid transit system.

Newag impulse

In 2012, the two- to six-part Newag Impuls railcars were manufactured. The total of 21 Szybka Kolej Miejska vehicles , which are used as a rapid transit system in the greater Warsaw area, are given the designations 31WE, 35WE, 36WE and 37WE, depending on the version. The impulse was delivered to the railways of other voivodeships and is in use there in different versions and colors.

EN57

In 2006, Newag participated in the modernization of the PKP series EN57 . The railcars received new drive units and a new front, in which a modern train destination indicator is integrated. The interior has been completely re-designed and equipped with multi-purpose compartments. Together with old vehicles, the total of 75 modernized railcars are used in Polish local transport.

EN71

In 2009 and 2012 Newag modernized 3 railcars of the PKP class EN71. All technical components have been modernized and the interior has been renewed. They are used in suburban traffic in Poland.

Newag Nevelo

With the three-part Newag Nevelo tram, Newag has been manufacturing trams for the first time since 2012. The railcar was shown at InnoTrans 2012 in Berlin , among others . The first prototype was tested during operation on the Kraków tram from 2013 to 2016 , but was not accepted due to technical difficulties.

Passenger coaches

Newag maintains and repairs passenger coaches on behalf of the Polish railway company PKP . Among other things, general inspections and modernizations are carried out.
