PKP Cargo is a listed Polish logistics group based in Warsaw . The company is the largest rail freight transport company in Poland and the second largest in the Czech Republic . In addition to these two markets, the company is also active in seven other countries in the European Union : Lithuania, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Austria, Germany and the Netherlands.

The company's share is traded on the Warsaw Stock Exchange and was included in its WIG30 leading index until December 2019 .

PKP Cargo operates 1,250 GPS-supported locomotives and 67,000 freight cars.

history

PKP Cargo was spun off as a subsidiary from the state-owned railway company Polskie Koleje Państwowe (PKP) in 2001 . In 2013, the state-owned company announced its IPO, initially 49.9 percent of the shares were placed. Following the takeover of private competitor PCC Logistics by DB Schenker in 2009, PKP Cargo announced in return that it would expand its activities in other Central European countries.
