The Grupa Azoty SA (formerly Zaklady Azotowe w Tarnowie-Mościcach SA ) is a Polish chemical company with headquarters in the district Mościce the small Polish town of Tarnow .
Grupa Azoty is the only manufacturer in Poland of polyoxymethylene under the Tarnoform trade name and of polytetrafluoroethylene under the Tarflen trade name.
The company's share is traded on the Warsaw Stock Exchange and is listed in its WIG30 leading index.

The group sells the majority of its production in its own country (49.8% of total sales, as of 2019). Germany dominates the export markets (7.9% share of sales), other countries of the European Union (27.7%). Other markets are Asia (3.5%) and South America (2.9%); the remaining markets account for 8.2%.
history
After the founding decision in 1927, the United Nitrogen Factories were created in Mościce and Chorzów in 1933. During the Second World War , the Germans took over the company and renamed it Moscice nitrogen works. In the 1950s, plants for the production of caprolactam, polyamide , polyvinyl chloride (PVC), acrylonitrile and Teflon were built.
The company was transformed into an AG of the Treasury in 1991. In 2005 the ministry transferred 80% of the shares to Nafta Polska. A year later, privatization negotiations began with the German PCC , which had offered 365.8 million zlotys for 80% of the shares.
In June 2008 the company went public on the Warsaw Stock Exchange . On June 18, 15.1 million series B shares were sold for 19.50 zloty each to eleven institutional investors (about 11 million shares) and 860 small investors (about 4 million shares), making the company 295 million zloty took. The institutional investors included Polskie Górnictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo (Polish Oil and Gas Company, PGNiG, 4 million shares or 10% of the shares) and the chemical company Ciech , which bought 2.56 million shares.

According to the Privatization Act, in companies with over 500 employees - even if the Ministry of State Assets holds less than half of the shares - employees must be allowed to send at least two members to the supervisory board and at least one member of the management board.
