The public passenger transport in the Baden-Württemberg university town of Tübingen consists of city buses, regional buses and regional trains.
Rail transport
The six train stations and stops are located in the city of Tübingen
- Tübingen main station ,
- Tübingen-Lustnau on the Plochingen – Tübingen railway line ,
- Tübingen-Derendingen on the Tübingen – Sigmaringen railway line as well
- Tübingen West ,
- Unterjesingen Sandäcker and
- Unterjesingen Mitte on the Ammertalbahn .
Both regional trains ( Regionalbahn , Regional-Express and Interregio-Express ) and long-distance trains ( Intercity ) stop at the main station . All other stops are served exclusively by regional trains operated by Deutsche Bahn AG or Hohenzollerische Landesbahn AG .
The Hauptbahnhof Tübingen is the junction for the main routes
- Stuttgart to Aulendorf via Reutlingen , Tübingen , Mössingen , Sigmaringen and Bad Saulgau
- Horb to Tübingen via Bieringen and Rottenburg am Neckar
- Stuttgart to Tübingen via Esslingen , Plochingen , Wendlingen , Metzingen and Reutlingen
- Bad Urach to Tübingen via Dettingen-Erms, Metzingen and Reutlingen
- Herrenberg to Tübingen via Entringen
On selected weekends, a historic steam train runs between Sigmaringen and Tübingen .
City buses
The urban transport company of the university town of Tübingen ( Stadtverkehr Tübingen -SVT) serves 380 stops on 35 city bus routes in Tübingen. Urban bus transport transports around 18 million passengers a year. In addition to the center, the city bus service includes the districts of Bebenhausen, Bühl, Derendingen, Hagelloch, Hirschau, Kilchberg, Lustnau, Pfrondorf, Unterjesingen and Weilheim. The central hub for city bus traffic is the central bus station at Tübingen main station.

Transport and tariff association
For the use of public transport the city of Tübingen a ticket of is Verkehrsverbund Neckar-Alb-Donau short naldo required. Tübingen is centrally located in the naldo 111 tariff network . For trips within the city (with all ten districts) there is the city tariff. The tickets can be purchased from machines on the bus platform, inside the buses, from the ticket machines at the train stations and stops, as well as in the travel center in the main train station.
