Naim Tërnava

Naim Tërnava (born January 7, 1961 in Dobri Dub near Kosovo Polje , SFR Yugoslavia , today Kosovo ) is the Grand Mufti of Kosovo . He was instrumental in founding the Inter-Religious Council Organization for Interfaith Relations . In 2008 he was elected supreme imam of the Kosovar Albanians in the Sultan Murat mosque in Pristina . His inauguration was attended by the highest imams of Macedonia ( Suleyman Redzepi ), Montenegro ( Rifat Fejzic ), Bosnia (Mufti Hussein Smajlic ) and Kosovar Albanian dignitaries. The President of the Islamic Community of Albania ( Selim Muça ) was absent.

He was one of the 138 signatories of the open letter a common word between us and you ( Engl. A Common Word Between Us and You ), the personalities of Islam to "leaders of Christian churches everywhere" (Engl. "Leaders of Christian Churches, everywhere ... ") (October 13, 2007).

In 2009 he was included in the list of the 500 Most Influential Muslims by the Prince al-Walid-bin-Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding at Georgetown University and the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Center of Jordan .
