Nakovo ( Serbian - Cyrillic Наково , German (outdated): Nakodorf, Sellesch , Hungarian Nákófalva ) is a village in the Vojvodina region of Serbia .

location

Nakovo is located directly on the border with Romania , about 5 km northeast of Kikinda . The border crossing Lunga -Nakovo is near the village. From Nakovo there is a branch line to Kikinda. The road on which Nakovo is located connects Kikinda with the Romanian Lovrin .

history

Historically, the municipality belongs to the Banat . The former Danube Swabian population of Nakovo was interned in labor camps or deported to Russia after the defeat of Germany in 1944. Today the population of 1,921 inhabitants (2011) consists of 99.5% Serbs, 0.4% Hungary and 0.1% Romania

"Petar Kočić" primary school

The first settlement by Magyars was documented in a settlement contract with Count Christoph von Nako in 1784. The place name Sellesch, which was also preferred in German language until 1944, also comes from this time. German settlement began in 1790, initially by families from the surrounding areas. Already in 1793 Nakovo had 1054 inhabitants.

Infrastructure

Nakovo has a post office, the newly built Serbian Orthodox Church of St. Tsar Lazar, also called Nakovska Lazarica, the " Petar Kočić " primary school , the "Izvor Nakovo" cultural association, a park and the FK "Polet" Nakovo football club.
