Until the 2012/2013 season, the north consisted of only one stream with 12 teams. Since the 2018 season, the streams have been partially divided into two groups in order to reduce travel stress and costs.

Until 2011/2012

The league was divided into the areas "coast" and "inland" until the 2010/11 season. Six teams played against each other once in each area. Elimination games in the two subjects each decide on a relegated team and two teams who play off the promoted team in a deciding round with one game each.

north

Since 2013/2014

Since the 2013/2014 season, the North Division has been divided into two leagues, East and West.

All teams compete against each other within their stream in home and return matches. The champion will be promoted to the Namibia Premier League , the last placed will be relegated to the Namibia Second Division .

Until 2012/2013

In the north, 12 teams played up to and including the 2012/2013 season (13 teams up to the 2010/11 season) from the regions of Caprivi , Kavango , Oshana , Omusati , Kunene , Otjozondjupa , Ohangwena and Oshikoto .

Venues

The league is designed so that each team plays a home and an away game against each opponent. For logistical reasons, however, numerous games are played centrally on some weekends in central stadiums of the respective stream. This is especially the case in the south, where there is only one game per pairing.
