Nancy Grimm

Nancy Grimm (born April 2, 1979 in Nauen ) is a German foreign language teacher , Americanist and non-fiction author .

Career

Nancy Grimm grew up in the Havelland in Ketzin and Wusterwitz . After graduating from high school in 1998 at the von Saldern-Gymnasium European School in Brandenburg an der Havel , she began studying English / American Studies , Literature and Philosophy at the University of Potsdam in 1999 , which she completed in 2004. From 2002 to 2003 she studied at the State University of New York in Potsdam (USA).

From 2004 to 2015, Nancy Grimm worked at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena as a research assistant at the chair for English didactics. She received her PhD in 2009 . Her research and teaching focus is on literature, culture and media didactics , educational policy and the evaluation and development of textbooks. From October 2015 she coordinated the project “Practical semester abroad” as a research assistant within the framework of the project “ProfJL - Professionalisation from the beginning in the Jena model of teacher training” funded by the federal and state governments with funds from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research .

In addition to university work, Nancy Grimm taught at various school institutions, for example English at the State Anger High School in Jena or linguistics at the State Vocational School for Health and Social Affairs in Jena. She was an examiner in the field of phonetics / linguistics in the speech therapist training and lectured in teacher training. Nancy Grimm was also a reviewer and member of the editorial board of the Viewfinder series at Langenscheidt / Klett and a member of the German Society for Foreign Language Research , the German Society for American Studies and the Society for New English-Language Literature.

Since October 2017, Nancy Grimm has been working as a consultant for media education at the Brandenburg State Institute for School and Media (LISUM) in Ludwigsfelde .
