Nanhui (南汇 区Nánhuì Qū ) was a municipality in the Chinese government-immediate city of Shanghai .

It had 699,119 inhabitants (2003) on an area of ​​687.66 km². The population density was 1,017 people per square kilometer.

Nanhui was the easternmost district in Shanghai and bordered directly on the Yellow Sea .

Origin and dissolution

In 2001, Nanhui County was converted to Nanhui Town. In 2009, the Nanhui District was dissolved and its area was added to the Pudong District .
