Naomi Alderman

Naomi Alderman (born October 23, 1974 in London ) is a British writer.

Life

Naomi Alderman's father is the historian of British Judaism Geoffrey Alderman . She attended South Hampstead High School and studied philosophy, political science and economics at Lincoln College , Oxford (BA). She then studied creative writing at the University of East Anglia .

Alderman has been writing scenarios for alternate reality games since 2004 . She has a monthly column in the Guardian and wrote an essay on science fiction for women there in 2017 .

Alderman's first novel Disobedience was published in 2006 and won the debut Orange Award for New Writers . In 2017 she received the Baileys Women's Prize for Fiction for The Power .

Since 2012 Alderman has taught creative writing at the private Bath Spa University .

In 2017, Disobedience was a film adaptation of her debut novel.
