Nataly Dawn (born October 29, 1986 in Sacramento , California ; actually Natalie Dawn Knutsen ) has been an American singer-songwriter since 2008 . As part of the duo Pomplamoose , she became known primarily for publishing songs on YouTube .

Life

Dawn was born the daughter of missionaries and spent much of her youth in Europe. She attended high school in France and Belgium .

She then went to the United States and studied art and French literature at Stanford University . There she met Jack Conte, with whom she has been married since May 2016, and founded the duo Pomplamoose with him . Since 2008 the duo has mainly published cover versions of pop songs on their YouTube channel, including Beyoncé'sSingle Ladies (Put a Ring on It) ”, Lady Gaga'sTelephone ” and “ Mr. Sandman ” by the Chordettes .

In 2009 Dawn released her first solo album Her earlier stuff on iTunes , a compilation of twelve of her songs that she had previously featured on her YouTube channel.

In 2010 Dawn played with Lauren O'Connell in their joint project My Terrible Friend , with which they also went on tour. On Barry Manilow's 2011 album Fifteen Minutes, Dawn starred in the song "Letter from a fan / So heavy, so high".

To finance the production of her second album How I Knew Her , she initiated a campaign on the Internet platform Kickstarter.com in July 2011 . When this ended seven weeks later, 2,315 people had donated a total of 104,788 US dollars as part of a crowdfunding . Dawn finally released the album on February 12, 2013 on the Nonesuch Records label .
