Nathan Lawson (born September 29, 1983 in Calgary , Alberta ) is a Canadian ice hockey goalkeeper who was most recently under contract with the Slovak first division club HK Nitra .

Career

Nathan Lawson began his career as a hockey player with the Olds Grizzlys, for whom he was active in the Alberta Junior Hockey League from 2002 to 2004 . He then attended the University of Alaska Anchorage for three years and played at the same time for their ice hockey team in the National Collegiate Athletic Association . In the 2007/08 season, the goalkeeper made his debut in professional ice hockey when he first ran for the Phoenix Roadrunners and then the Utah Grizzlies in the ECHL .

From the 2008/09 season Lawson was a regular for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in the American Hockey League between the posts. In February 2010 he also signed a contract with their cooperation partner New York Islanders from the National Hockey League .

On July 5, 2011, Lawson agreed on a two-way contract for one year with the Montréal Canadiens . After a season with the Hamilton Bulldogs , he signed another two-way contract for a year on July 16, 2012, this time with the Ottawa Senators . In the following two years he played for their farm team, the Binghamton Senators , in the American Hockey League .

In the 2014/15 season he played for the Dornbirn EC in the EBEL . In May 2015 he signed a contract for the 2015/16 season with Vienna Capitals. After the season he left Austria for Finland and signed a contract with the Liiga club HPK in April 2016 .

In January 2017 he was signed for one year by HC 05 Banská Bystrica from the Slovak Extraliga and won the Slovak championship with it in 2017 .
