Jeremy Harper killed his adoptive parents in childhood by setting them on fire and burning them. He later becomes a financial entrepreneur. The elder Ted Robards, who was temporarily married to Harper's mother, becomes his business partner.

Robards is offering Harper a room in his house as accommodation for a limited time. Robards' pregnant wife is against it, but Harper moves into the house anyway. He's starting to hate the Robards.

Reviews

The lexicon of the international film wrote: "Psychological thriller based on a well-known plot, but which develops a high level of tension and knows how to hold it through to the eerie, brutal finale."

Jack Sommersby wrote on efilmcritic.com that Donald Sutherland's performance was “wasted” while William McNamara was “untalented”.
