Neil Young: Heart of Gold is an American documentary and concert film directed by Jonathan Demme in 2006 about the singer and songwriter Neil Young . The film was shot in August 2005 and was released in US theaters on February 10, 2006. The concert was recorded at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville , Tennessee . The concert consists of two parts, which also differ in the stage design. In the first part you can see new songs from the album Prairie Wind , in the second part Young sings classics from his long career - during the concert he is musically accompanied by a large number of friends and other professional musicians.
