Nenê (born September 13, 1982 in São Carlos , São Paulo as Maybyner Rodney Hilário ) is a Brazilian basketball player who was last under contract with the Houston Rockets in the NBA .
Career
Nenê began his career at CR Vasco da Gama in Rio de Janeiro . In 2000 and 2001 he won the Brazilian championship with the team.
Denver Nuggets (2002 to 2012)
Since 2002 he has been playing in the North American professional league NBA . Originally, Nenê was selected in the NBA draft by the New York Knicks , but was sent to the Denver Nuggets in exchange for Antonio McDyess that evening . After his first year as a professional in the NBA, he was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team . He was the first Brazilian player in the NBA who was able to establish himself there permanently. Later this also applied to compatriots like Leandro Barbosa and Anderson Varejão .
Two and a half months after a malignant tumor on his testicle was removed, he returned to the field in March 2008 against the Dallas Mavericks . In the 2013/14 season he scored 30 points in two games, which is his career best to date. In ten years in Denver he played 555 main round games for the team and reached the playoff round seven times. He reached the highest point value in the main round of the 2008/09 season with 14.6 per encounter.
Washington Wizards (2012 to 2016)
On March 15, 2012, shortly before the transfer was closed, it was delivered to Washington in an exchange deal in which Denver, the Washington Wizards and Los Angeles Clippers were involved.
Houston Rockets (2016-2020)
The Brazilian moved to the Houston Rockets in the summer of 2016 . In Texas, his role changed noticeably: He usually sat on the bench at the start of the game, while in the previous course of his NBA career he was mostly in the "top five".
National team
With the Brazilian national team, he took part in the 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics. At the 2016 games in his home country, he was the top scorer in the Brazilian selection with 13 points per match. Nenê was also part of the Brazilian squad at the 2014 World Cup.
