Neri per Caso is an Italian a cappella sextet from Salerno .
history
The group, consisting of Massimo Devitiis, Mario Crescenzo, the brothers Ciro and Diego Caravano and the cousins of the latter two, Mimì and Gonzalo Caravano, were discovered in 1994 by Claudio Mattone. The vocal sextet had discovered the American Doo Wop of the 1950s. The group entered the 1995 Sanremo Festival with the song Le ragazze and won the newcomer category. The debut album included a cappella versions of well-known Italian songs, for example by Zucchero , Pino Daniele , Jovanotti and Edoardo Bennato . The sextet returned to Sanremo in 1996 and, with Mai più sola, came fifth in the main category.
After the second album Strumenti , the Neri recorded a song for the Italian version of the soundtrack to The Hunchback of Notre Dame . At the end of 1996 the Christmas album … And So This Is Christmas was released , 1997 the third regular album Neri per Caso . After a first artistic break, Angelo blu followed in 2000 , the fourth album. Several compilations appeared between 2001 and 2007, Uno Indonesia , La raccolta , Made in Italy and Solo grandi successi .
The sextet only returned to the studio in 2007 and released the album Angoli diversi in 2008 , which again contained a number of cover versions that were sung together with the original artists ( Luca Carboni , Pooh , Lucio Dalla , Samuele Bersani or Mario Biondi ). Two years later the album Donne followed , which was based on the same concept, but exclusively with female singers ( Loredana Bertè , Mia Martini , Noemi , Giusy Ferreri or Dolcenera ). In 2014 Diego Caravano left the formation after 20 years and was initially replaced by Moris Pradella, from 2015 by Daniele Blaquier. The first album without Caravano was released in 2016 with Neri per Caso 2.0 .
At the Sanremo Festival 2018 , the group performed on the fourth evening together with Elio e le Storie Tese .
