Nestor El Maestro (born March 25, 1983 in Belgrade , SFR Yugoslavia as Nestor Jevtić , Serbian Нестор Јевтић) is a Serbian - English football coach .

Career

El Maestro was born in Belgrade as Nestor Jevtić and initially grew up there. He started playing soccer at Red Star Belgrade . At the age of 8 he received a scholarship to a private school near London and moved to England . However, not having enough talent for a football career, El Maestro decided to become a coach at the age of 15. He began as a technology trainer in the youth department at the traditional English club West Ham United . He had previously coached the youth of a small suburban club outside of London. His brother Nikon was considered a child prodigy from an early age, which led a newspaper to call him "El Maestro". He and his brother officially adopted this nickname as their last name in 2002.

In 2002 El Maestro's family moved to Austria in the capital Vienna for professional reasons of their father, a real estate agent . But Nestor went to Italy to Juventus Turin , where he worked as the technical coach of the professional club under Marcello Lippi . In the same year El Maestro went back to his family in Vienna, where he worked for two years as a youth coach for FK Austria Wien. In 2004 he and his brother moved to Valencia CF , as they were the only team to agree to include Nestor El Maestro in the coaching team as the technical coach for the club's greatest talents. In addition, Nestor El Maestro was his brother's individual coach and assistant coach of the second team playing in the Tercera División , Valencia CF Mestalla .

For the 2006/07 season , FC Schalke 04 signed El Maestro as an assistant coach. However, he was presented under his maiden name Jevtić, as it was difficult for the club to explain “that Schalke hired a 23-year-old as an assistant coach, who is also called El Maestro”. On April 13, 2008, however, Nestor El Maestro was sacked with head coach Mirko Slomka . On January 19, 2010 El Maestro was presented together with Slomka at Hannover 96 . In addition to his job as Slomka's assistant coach, he was also the club's technical coach. Until 2013 he worked for Hannover 96. In 2014 he was assistant coach at Hamburger SV under Slomka.

Since 2002 El Maestro has had a player pass with the Austrian seventh division club FK Blau-Weiß Hollabrunn (formerly SC Hollabrunn ). His only appearance so far was on June 1, 2014 , when he lost 3-5 to SC Raiffeisen Enzersfeld , where he played together with his brother Nikon.

For the 2016/17 season he was employed by Thorsten Fink's former club, FK Austria Wien . In October, he extended his contract until June 30, 2019. In May 2017, it was announced that El Maestro will be leaving Vienna for the 2017/18 season to coach the Slovak first division club FC Spartak Trnava . This was his first position as head coach of a professional team. Together with his brother as assistant coach, he surprisingly led the club to the first championship in club history. In June 2018, Bulgarian record champions CSKA Sofia announced that El Maestro had signed a contract as head coach from the coming season. In February 2019 he was replaced by Lyuboslaw Penew .

For the 2019/20 season he was coach of the Austrian Bundesliga club SK Sturm Graz . In June 2020 the Grazer parted from El Maestro, at that time Sturm was the last of the championship group in sixth place in the table.

Others

In an interview with the football magazine Ballesterer , El Maestro also spoke about his political views in 2019.
