Neubessingen is the northernmost district of the town of Arnstein in the Lower Franconian district of Main-Spessart .

geography

The street village is 8 km north of Arnstein, on the MSP 2 county road . It is the smallest part of the city of Arnstein. The next larger city is Schweinfurt, 18 km away .

Neighboring markings starting clockwise in the north are Wülfershausen , Burghausen and Altbessingen .

Neubessingen was founded in 1694 as a clearing village . On September 24th of that year, the Würzburg prince-bishop Johann Gottfried von Guttenberg handed over the Hochstiftischen forest near Altbessingen to a group of farmers willing to clear the land for the construction of a new village.

On July 1, 1974, the previously independent community was incorporated into the city of Arnstein.

Emil Greul (1895–1993), physician and admiralty staff doctor as well as last chief medical officer in the Navy , was born on December 29, 1895 in Neubessingen.
