Reuchelheim is a district of the town of Arnstein in the Lower Franconian district of Main-Spessart .

Geographical location

The village is located in the valley of the Wern , three kilometers west of Arnstein. The hamlet of Marbach and the Ebenroth and Erlasee manors are also in the area . The Werntalbahn crosses the place. To the north of this is the old town, to the south on the slope of the Wernberg there is a settlement area.

The federal highway 26 running north of the village leads west to Müdesheim , Halsheim and Binsfeld and east to Arnstein.

history

Reuchelheim was settled by the Franks between 500 and 700 AD and developed from seven free courtyards in today's center. Other sources speak of the foundation by a knight Ruchilo. The first documentary mention comes from 907, a certain Lichtenstein held the village as a pledge. From the 16th century, Reuchelheim was part of the Arnstein Tenth Court . The Church of St. Johannes Baptista was built in rococo style in 1750 and restored in 1904.

The wine-growing has always been at home in the place and has survived to this day. On July 1, 1974, Reuchelheim became a district of Arnstein as part of the municipal reform .
