history
Neusorge is probably a founding of the Niedersohland manor. The place was first mentioned in the 17th century in the church records in Mittelohlander. Up until the middle of the 19th century, Neusorge belonged to the Niedersohland estate.
After that, Neusorge formed a district of the community of Niedersohland, the settlement in Mittelohland was parish. Since the merger of Niedersohland with Mittelohland, Obersohland and Wendischsohland to form the municipality of Sohland on the Spree in 1877, Carlsruhe was part of the same.
On January 1, 2011, Neusorge was deleted as an official part of the municipality of Sohland an der Spree.
Place name
It is assumed that the name of the place comes from the Middle High German "Zarge", a field on the local border. An older spelling is “Neue Sorge”.
