Ngawa ( Chinese 阿坝 县 , Pinyin Ābà Xiàn ) is a district of the Ngawa Autonomous District of the Tibetans and Qiang in the north of the Chinese province of Sichuan . Its main town is the Ngawa community . It has an area of 10,435 square kilometers and has a population of 60,000 (2004).

Self-immolation
Since 2011, various cases of self-immolation by Tibetan monks have been reported in Ngawa . The case of the monk Puthsok on March 16, 2011, was described by the lawyer Xu Zhiyong, arrested today (2015) in 2012 in China Change .
