Nguidjilone is a town in the department of Matam the Matam region , located in the northeast of Senegal .

Geographical location

Nguidjilone is located in the northeast of the Matam department on the left western bank of Senegal , which forms the border with Mauritania here. The accessibility of Nguidjilone by land is made difficult by its location on the island, which is formed by Senegal and the Senegal branch of Diamel . history

Until 2011, the village of Nguidjilone was part of the Bokidiawe rural community . Since the main town was far too far away for the population in practice, the Commune (city) of Nguidjilone was founded in 2011. Associated with this was the outsourcing of the urban area from the area of the rural community. The urban area includes the villages of Nguidjilone Lodhiou, Nguidjilone Vélingara, Nguidjilone Somma, Ali Ouri and the hamlet of Kédéla . Nguidjilone was designated as the capital of the Commune.
