Nicolò Anselmi (born May 9, 1961 in Genoa ) is an Italian clergyman and Roman Catholic auxiliary bishop in Genoa .

Life

Nicolò Anselmi first earned a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Genoa and, after completing his military service, entered the archbishop's seminary in Genoa. He was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Genoa on May 9, 1992 .

After serving as chaplain, he was diocesan youth pastor from 1993 to 2007 and from 1994 to 2001 he was also assistant to the youth of the Catholic Action in the Archdiocese of Genoa. From 1997 to 2007 he headed the pastoral care of young people in the church region of Liguria and from 2007 to 2012 he was responsible for youth pastoral care in Italy. In addition to his commitment as a youth chaplain, he performed other tasks as a religion teacher, in pastoral care and vocational pastoral care .

He was then episcopal vicar for youth, university and sports pastoral care in the Archdiocese of Genoa, canon and provost at the collegiate monastery of the Basilica of Santa Maria delle Vigne . Pope Benedict XVI awarded him the title of Papal Honorary Chaplain in January 2012 .

Pope Francis appointed him auxiliary bishop in Genoa and titular bishop of Utica on January 10, 2015 . He was ordained episcopal on February 8th of the same year by the Archbishop of Genoa, Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco . Co- consecrators were the President of the Administration of Property of the Apostolic See , Cardinal Domenico Calcagno , and the Bishop of Chiavari , Alberto Tanasini . Cardinal Bagnasco also appointed him vicar general .
