Nicolas Jean-Marie Souchu (born July 25, 1958 in Neuilly-sur-Seine , France ) is a French clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Aire and Dax .

Life

Nicolas Souchu studied economics and social sciences at the University of Orléans until 1980 and then moved to the local seminary. On June 1, 1986, he received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Orléans . From 1990 to 2000 he was Episcopal Vicar for the city of Orleáns before he was appointed Vicar General of the diocese. From 2003 to 2008 Souchu was secretary of the Commission for Priests and Laity in the Mission in the French Bishops' Conference, of which he became a member after his episcopal ordination.

On November 28, 2008 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . as titular bishop of Cataquas and auxiliary bishop in Rennes . The Archbishop of Rennes, Pierre d'Ornellas , donated him episcopal ordination on January 18, 2009 ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Nanterre , Gérard Daucourt , and the Bishop of Orléans, André Fort .

On November 15, 2017, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Aire and Dax. The inauguration took place on December 17th of the same year.
