Nicole Grimaudo (born April 22, 1980 in Caltagirone , Province of Catania , Sicily ) is an Italian actress .

Nicole Grimaudo grew up as the youngest of three sisters in Sicily. At the age of 14, she successfully took part in a talent show on the Italian television channel Italia 1 and from then on began a career as an actress on television and in the cinema. Since then she has lived in Rome .

She made her television debut in 1996 in the German-Italian fairy tale film Princess Alisea at the side of Monica Bellucci , Anja Kruse , Christopher Lee , Jürgen Prochnow and Christian Rudolf , in which she played the title character as a teenager. In the 1997 television film Racket , she starred in a smaller role alongside Michele Placido . Numerous television appearances followed, increasingly in leading roles, and first minor appearances in Italian films. In 1999, Oscar- nominated director Lina Wertmüller in Fernando e Carolina gave her a major supporting role in a feature film ; Grimaudo embodies the princess of Medina . She became known to an international television audience in 2002 in the American- Italian-German- Dutch two-part play Julius Caesar , directed by Uli Edel ; she embodies Caesar's ( Jeremy Sisto ) daughter Julia . In the Italian Mystery - crime series R.IS - Delitti imperfetti she appeared 2005-2006 in 16 episodes as Anna Giordanao, from 2007 to 2010 in the medical drama Medicina Generale in 39 episodes as Anna Morelli.

Grimaudo had her international artistic breakthrough with films by Giuseppe Tornatore and Ferzan Özpetek : In the Sicilian family saga Baarìa von Tornatore, she plays Sarina as a young girl, played by Ángela Molina ; the film was shown at the 2009 Venice Film Festival and was nominated for both the Golden Lion and the Golden Globes . Ozpetek cast her in 2008 as Maja in Un giorno perfetto (also nominated for the Golden Lion), in 2010 as Alba, female lead in the comedy Men al dente . The film has been shown at international film festivals, including the Berlinale and the Tribeca Film Festival .

Occasionally Nicole Grimaudo can also be seen on the theater stage .
