Nicole Megow (born December 25, 1976 in Dessau ) is a German mathematician and theoretical computer scientist . She heads the working group "Computer Science Methods for Adaptive Control in Logistics and Production" at Faculty 3 Mathematics / Computer Science / Central at the University of Bremen .

Career

In 1996, Megow began studying business mathematics at the Technical University of Berlin . In 2001 she spent a year as a visiting student at the Operations Research Center of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology , in July 2002 she graduated from TU Berlin with a diploma thesis on "Performance analysis of on-line algorithms in machine scheduling" as a Dipl.-Math. oec. from. She then worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Mathematics at the TU Berlin in the Matheon Research Center. In 2006 she was at the TU Berlin with Rolf H. Möhring with a dissertation on "Coping with Incomplete Information in scheduling - Stochastic and Online models" to Dr. rer. nat. PhD.

From 2008 she did research as a postdoc and from 2012 as a senior scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Computer Science in Saarbrücken . She spent three-month research stays at the University of New South Wales (2005), the Universidad de Chile (2008 and 2014) and the University of Sydney (2011). From 2011 to 2012 she was given a substitute professorship for discrete optimization at the Technical University of Darmstadt . From 2012 on, she led an Emmy Noether junior research group at the Institute for Mathematics at the TU Berlin. 2015 she followed the call to an Assistant Professorship for Discrete Mathematics at the Technical University of Munich .

After a call as a university professor at the University of Bremen, she moved to the Institute for Computer Science there and was appointed head of its working group “Computer Science Methods for Adaptive Control in Logistics and Production”.

Her main research interests are in the areas of " combinatorial optimization " and " efficient algorithms " with the aspects
