Nijas Gabdulchanowitsch Nabejew ( Russian: Нияз Габдулханович Набеев ; born March 31, 1989 in Kazan , Tatar ASSR ) is a former Russian Nordic combined skier .
Career
Nabejew, who started for GAU CSP Kazan, made his first international appearance in 2007 at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Tarvisio in 2007 and was part of the Russian national team from 2009. Also in 2008 in Zakopane and 2009 in Štrbské Pleso he took part in the Junior World Championships, where he achieved his best individual placement in 2008 with the 23rd place in the Gundersen singles.
After Nabejew started in the B World Cup for the first time in December 2007 , he reached the points for the first time in the Continental Cup race in Park City in mid-December 2008. His best individual placement at this second class level was fourth in the Gundersen singles in Erzurum in December 2010. In the 2015/16 Continental Cup season , he achieved his best score in the overall ranking with 26th place.
In January 2009 Nabejew made his debut in Schonach in the World Cup , but reached both the team as eleventh and in the individual as 38th only the lower ranks. Even though he tried his hand at the World Cup 43 times between 2009 and 2017, he only managed to win World Cup points once. He celebrated this success in the 2012/13 World Cup season at the Gundersen Singles on the large hill in Ruka , where he finished 28th. Together with the Russian team, he reached eighth place twice.
His greatest international success came from participating in winter universiades . When he first participated in 2011 in Erzurum, he was only used in the relay competition and was able to win the bronze medal. At the Winter Universiade 2015 in Štrbské Pleso he finished 14th in the Gundersen singles and eleventh in the mass start. Together with Samir Mastijew and Ernest Jachin , he and the team came third again.
Nabejew was a total of four times in the Russian squad for Nordic World Ski Championships , although he was only allowed to start in 2011 in Oslo in all competitions. In fact, he also achieved his best individual result at the Gundersen individual on the normal hill in Oslo, although with rank 40 this fell short of expectations.
At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , Nabeev only started in the individual from the large hill, but reached the finish line more than 5 minutes behind in 43rd place. Even four years later at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , he only got one job. This time he was ninth and last in the team competition together with Yevgeny Klimow , Ernest Jachin and Iwan Panin .
At the national level, Nabeev was four times with the team, once in the team sprint and in the summer of 2014 in the Gundersen individual Russian champions. After the winter of 2017/18 he ended his career. Nabeev was involved in the further development of the Center for Social Development and the children's and youth sports school in Kazan . In the 2020/21 season he is part of the coaching team of the Russian national team in Nordic combined.
