Nikolai Pavlovich Lyakischew
Nikolai Pavlovich Lyakischew ( Russian: Николай Павлович Лякишев ; born October 5, 1929 in Pokrovskoye district , Oryol Oblast ; † November 18, 2006 in Moscow ) was a Russian metallurgist and metalworker .
Life
Lyakischew studied at the Moscow Institute for Steel and Alloys (MISiS) with a degree in 1954. He then worked as a research assistant at the Central Bard Research Institute for Steel Metallurgy . His main focus was on physical-chemical and theoretical studies of metallurgical processes as well as the technologies of new steels and alloys. He developed a theory of selective oxidation and oxide growth on multi-component alloys as well as the chemical interaction of the components at high temperatures in the solid , liquid and gaseous state. He initiated the direct reduction of iron . A new process for the production of vanadium (V) oxide was based on his work .
In 1987 Lyakishev became director of the Baikov Institute of Metallurgy . In 1987 he also became a real member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (from 1991 Russian Academy of Sciences (RAN)) and headed the Council for Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology in Moscow. Lyakishev continued his metallurgical investigation. In addition to his many publications, he edited the three-volume collection of binary phase diagrams .
Lyakishev became an honorary member of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Bashkortostan (1991), a member of the Chinese Engineering Academy and a member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine .
Lyakishev's grave monument is in the Trojekurovo cemetery in Moscow .
